What is really cool when you start deep diving into the world of plant medicine, you start learning and appreciating how "medicine" can be found in many forms.
What we feed our body has a direct effect on how we feel, both physically and emotionally. This doesn't mean you need to follow a strict "diet" or become obsessed with absolutely anything and everything you consume. It's just an encouragement to practice mindfulness and gratitude for what our food can do for us! Trying to incorporate less processed goods, more variety, and also having a balanced flexibility in treating yourself!
I've also come to learn more and try to live a life more in balance with the seasons. When you look at the nutrients in certain plants that grow in different seasons, you will find that it aligns with what our bodies tend to need during those seasons! For instance, heartier/starchier root vegetables are more readily available and are harvested at the end of fall towards winter-- a time when our bodies need more sugars and dense nutrients to brave the cold winters.
The treats I've sampled below are made with various herbs and spices that hold unique medicinal values... but I'm not claiming that they are health foods >_< These are simply treats that I enjoy making and eating!
There is some evidence, thought that sourdough bread is better for our guts than regular yeasted breads! https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8306212/
